The B***s**rs at TFL have decided to tighter the standard from 3rd Jan 2012. as I live in the LEZ either I convert my surf to LPG, Fit a PM filter or sell the surf. if i drive it after the 3rd it will cost me £100 a day.

the first two options will cost about £1500 plus an annual inspection fee of £37 on top of the MOT.

I Think this is probably the end to my runing my surf unless someone has an ideas.

I would move out of London.

    Two good things then happen.

    1. you get to keep the Surf.

    2. You don't live in London.

(I think you are lying anyway, cos you is speaking English)

Both good points, why would you need a Surf in London? and vice versa.

          I would definitely move too.

i think you will find it only effects light utility vehicles not private light goods unless some one can correct me

No, you're right Colin, it doesn't affect cars. It will, however, affect pick-ups even if they're only used as private vehicles.

There's nothing to worry about (at the moment). TFL website says:

"Light 4x4 utility vehicles classed as cars are not affected by the LEZ"

People in london are allowed boats and caravans? You can't tow them with a stupid smart car! Or come offroading at weekends.

(not that I'd want to live in london either though! )

They are in a muddle as usual then, cos if you go through this...

                  http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/...kt-tab-panel-3

                  it ends up with...

TfL classifies your vehicle as a larger van or other specialist diesel vehicle for LEZ purposes.
You will be affected by the Low Emission Zone from 2012.
You will not meet the standards from 3 January 2012.
Thats putting in Light 4x4 Utility vehicle, between 1.2 and 3.5T GVW (all the log books for my Surfs say Private/light goods, so dosn't really match though)

True, but if you lived in London and had a boat or caravan, chances are that you wouldn't have the space to store it at your house and would have to pay to store it somewhere. If you can afford to store your boat or caravan at London prices, then you can afford the LEZbians.

                      oh selfrightous person,

Thats an outragous generaliston!! Just like all 4x4 drivers tear up fields and bully other road users!

So because you can pay, its all ok, thats a slippery slope to go down.

Its not just the posh parts of the city, its almost anywhere inside the M25, which includes thousands of average homes with drives etc...

£100 A DAY!!! Just to drive to work or go shopping.

I think the inside of the M25 should be made into a big pond.

Hmm, would be a stinky pond though.

Great idea. It'll happen soon when that big wave comes up the Thames soon.

(is a big pond a lake?)

No. A lake has a river flowing in and flowing out. A pond doesn't.
