If you didn't have the surf what 4x4 would you have?

Used to use a Warrior for work. It was shite. Waaay too light at the back, engine was as rough as feck (and got rougher quickly!) and cheap and nasty build quality.

Couple of blokes here have Shogun Sports. Geared for towning, they are useless on the M1. They are around 4000 rpm @ 80 mph. I guess if 99% of your mileage is M-way, a 4x4 is not the tool for the job, but still, the Surf is under 3000 rpm at similar, if not greater, speeds.

I think if the Surf did not exist I would walk.

If I sold mine, I'd want a stylish V8 4x4 with good load carrying and 4 seats..... narrows it down a bit. Dodge Ram 5.7l Laramie 4 door fits the bill though....hmmm...

I do for one, and looks like a few others do too!

My Q was more fact finding for alternatives to the Surf.

Not saying I'm selling it, but just wondered if I got some money together, what would be comparable or better in terms of power, 4x4 ability, load carrying and 4 person carrying.

Plus I want a V8 again.

So, do I get a transplant or buy a V8 specced truck?
