  • 0.5% reduction in UK Economy

How can the government on one hand say that the "BAD" weather (snow) has caused the 0.5% reduction in the economy, and still insist that there is no need for (significant) investment in snow clearing equipment as snow "has little overall effect on the UK economy" ?

A 0.5% reduction in the economy! how many snow plows and gritters and road salt etc would that buy?

    Any convenient excuse!

Plus how are the budgets for winter road treatment being affected by the cuts? If they cant cope now, how will they cope with less money and potentially a worse winter next year?
If it can be broken it can be fixed

probably best not to confuse the government with people who give a sh't with what happens to the economy or its public.. you know the people that put them in a seat of power in the hope they couldn't be as bad as the last lot trying to run the country. So i think that a lot of people voted blind in the respect of who do we have running the country? there really is only three parties that have a chance of being in power Labour,Conservative and liberal democrats. so we ended up with the two in a coalition government and now it's apparent that this type of government does not work....just my opinion mind.
Anyhow by the time these idiots have bankrupt the country and had their pensions topped up to an amount most working people can't earn in ten years, then maybe we'll get an honest working man/woman in number 10 who, Is not corruptible and has seen life on both sides having to struggle to make ends meet and dragging himself or herself up from nothing then, we might stand a chance

Don't worry - before long Lexurf VI will be terrorising the roads of Surrey. This will mean three things:
      a) No more snow. Global warming will be advanced by at least 40 years in the next 6 months.
      b) No more recession. Revenue from the fuel sector alone will account for economic growth of around 3.7% each month from March.
      c) No more deficit. Fuel tax revenue - see b).
So yes, your future assured happiness will be down to me.

The multinationals and banks call the shots as to who gets into power in the West. They'll happily fund the electoral campaigns of those happy to play the game, and smear anyone standing for real change.

It's a colossal Ponzi scheme wrapped in an old-boys club and we're right at the bottom. It will get to the point where the majority of people living here will simply steal when they cannot afford to eat or work. There are not enough police to deal with that, so they'll either have to turn a blind eye and let the riots play themselves out, or bring in the tanks.

        Think they won't?

"Tiananmen Square Massacre? Terrible, that was. Can't believe people still do business with the Chinese.."

"Wow, look at this double-din head unit on ebay with a 3D 90" screen and surround sound! £5 posted from XingXuing! Bargain!"

        etc.

SPEAKING from the sunken bath of his four room suite in Cannes, U2 frontman Bono has condemned the West for failing to eradicate Third World poverty.

Bono is in Cannes to launch U2's latest project, a 3D film of the group buying yachts in the Seychelles and then setting fire to them.

The DVD, priced £24.99, is expected to net the Dublin rockers more than £60 million worldwide.

Bono, who has been talking about poverty for more than 25 years, said: "As soon as I get out of this bath, have a massage with rare essential oils, eat some organic mango and set fire to a yacht, I'm gonna be knockin' on the White House door.

"And when Obama answers I'm gonna say: 'Happy Birthday Mr President, there are 12 billion people right now not havin' another birthday'."

Later this year Bono will join Sting, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for a summit on world poverty at the seven-star Burj-Al-Arab Hotel in Dubai.

But in true A-list fashion, the stars are already squabbling over who gets the room with the built-in waterfall.

Ula Okwami, a 38 year-old farmer from Chad, said: "Hang on a minute, I've had an idea. Call me a complete fruit-loop, but how about this?

"Instead of staying in a £3000 a night hotel, stay in a £1000 a night hotel and we'll use the change to buy goats and penicillin."
