Discount Vouchers for Laser Eye Treatment

Not Surf related, but just in case anyone is thinking about this - I keep getting sent vouchers by Optical Express for £300 off laser eye surgery so if anyone wants one just let me know. They've got a short shelf life but I get them every month and they are valid at any Optical Express clinic - you just need to take them with you at the initial consultation.

One of the best things I've done, after 35 yrs of wearing glasses I now have better than 20/20 vision, its not painful, just a bit uncomfortable and was back driving the following day.

AFIK, from discussions with my optician, it corrects whatever the original (probably from birth) fault is in your eyes, it doesn't help with age related deteriation. And even once corrected, it is not guaranteed, nor is it a certainty they will help at all; and it's not unknown for the procedure to go wrong.

I, personally, would never risk my eyesight. I'll keep wearing specs, they've done me proud for the past 46 years...

I'm 44 and have struggled with contact lenses and glasses for snowboarding and kitesurfing, they are both a pita - not anymore. Yep I'll probably eventually need glasses for reading when I get older but the freedom it gives me now is so worth it. Just my own experience though, not for everybody.

I Know a couple of the guys i work with that have had it done and they swore its the best thing since sliced bread.... They are in their 40's like me and have had no problems for the last 3 years. I have seriously considered it but not had the funds to get on and do it.

Have had any problems Night Driving ?

Only the first night as I had to drive back from my folks and it was probably too soon, the halo effect around road signs from the reflection of the lights was really bad and I was worried. No problems since. You have to be really disciplined and put the various drops they give you in your eyes as directed

I still cant get over the difference it has made to me, took me 4 years to finally decide and wish I hadnt waited so long.

I was £2.5k for both eyes with £300 off with a voucher from a colleague - not cheap but I reckon it was money well spent. That was for intralase which was the most expensive treatment but had it done Friday and was back at my desk on Monday - cheaper ones they recommend a week off work and being self employed that just wasnt an option for me. I had a really bad astigmatism so that bumped the price up as well. Never heard of anyone getting the £395 an eye price they quote though.

a few of my mates in thailand (mostly oil workers) have had their eyes done.
all of them are in the 45 - 55 age bracket and theres been no bad reports so far. most of them had it done to save wearing reading glasses at work.

im sure its below £500 over there in a top quality hospital - at £2500 in the uk you could have a holiday, get the headlights done and be left with a good few quid over. if anyone wants details ill ask the guys for you

Yes...and if there are any good dentists out there..
