Hi from sunny (not!) Yorkshire.
Having owned a hilux pickup and 3 Isuzu troopers over the years, I found myself perusing eBay for something cheap and cheerful to tow with. Sooooo....All the Isuzus I looked at had rot and/or had or needed chassis welding work. By accident, I stumbled across the surfs. Never actually knew they existed, but liked what I saw! I know what your thinking 'eBay?!' but we are seasoned eBay vehicle buyers.
So I bid on and won my first surf: 1993 SSRX, 1 owner from new, FSH, very tidy inside and out, 80k on the clock and a cracking set of colour-coded split-rims
I love this motor! In at the deep end and had already made two 900 mile trips to Scotland and back.....Then Made my first mistake. Yes, should have flushed the cooling, now knowing what I now about problems with clogging and backing up. The head went heading back from the second trip . First big bill for brand new head, gaskets and cambelt, overheating problem (now solved) and a system flush later. It's back on the road. Already had a good read here before joining and now planning to upgrade the cooling and add a cooler to the transmission fluid line. Also solved the heater not blowing on the windscreen from your posts. Yes, the cable was kinked. I fixed it now
As we speak, I've just taken off the wind deflectors for a good clean and spending today doing a good wax.
The only bad bits on my truck are the bumpers. Next job is repairing and rechroming those. Bodywork is immaculate, chassis solid as rock. We are now planning on adding a second when funds allow. Hubby wants a manual box. I actually love my auto and has nothing to prove having taken me safely through some redicilous amounts of snow and ice bound road. Also on the lookout for a bullbar and will probably add some front fogs and KC daylighters in the near future.
That's about it from me!
