Women drivers?

I had a lengthy conversation with my stepdaughter last night after picking her up from Drama club.

She'd been told by her (female) science teacher that women are better drivers than men because their peripheral vision is more acute than mens. (Whether this is correct or not is moot). Of course, being male, I argued my sexes side.

This morning, walking past school on my way to work, I watched a young lady attempting to reverse into a marked parking bay in the school carpark with a car on one side and an empty space on the other. It took her four attempts!

I rest my case.

I'm sitting in with my daughter twice a week as a qualified driver as she's learning and parking is a major problem for her, so i aggree, i've always thought that men (in general) being more inclined towards things mechanical
make slightly better drivers than women, i know thats a generaliseation and there are exceptions, on the other hand men are more prone to haveing an accident due to being over confident and less cautious, i once saw a woman hit a car three times in the doctors car park trying to get her car in a bay!! and she was gonna walk away till i yelled at her regarding the dents she's made in some poor sod's car, i suggested she leave her details on the car or i would,

do they do a "blow up" qualified driver as i'm getting chocca sitting in!

The way I understand it, mens accidents tend to be fewer, though higher speed leading to higher injury rate / total loss rate. Women have more low speed parking / junction accidents.

I put this down to younger blokes showing off / ability lagging behind bravado, whereas women aren't under that kind of peer pressure, are more cautious and more circumspect.

Blokes suffer from stupidity, women suffer from 90% of their brain being dedicated to shoes.

Men have in general much better spacial awareness and can hence park much better.

First you had the automobile, with mainly only men driving them. There were basic with the emphasis on going as fast as possible. Not much / anything for safety.

Then women started driving!
This lead to cars having to be modified and changed to suit women. The following are some changes.

Bumpers
Seat belts
PAS
Air bags
Vanity mirror
reversing camera
parking sensors
cars that park themselves
key less entry (some things are just too mechanical! )
self inflating tires
squirty can tire filler
AA cover
Warning lights on dash
Hazard lights
and "caution women driver sticker"

All of the above, and women still cant parallel park! or park in general lol

actually, i must say that my partner although she drives verrrry slow and cant park, she can change gear properly! i.e slowly and without grinding the gear box every time. My brother on the other hand drives his car like he just stole it and should drive an auto because he still cant change gears! 2nd gear box possibly his third now.

the evolution of man says different

because we the man had to hunt to bring food back to the family
the women was baby sitters and berry collectors

so we the hunter go that extra bit because our brains can cope better with speed and movment
were has a woman cant do it has good has men

for that reason and that reason only women get cheaper insurance than men based on the different evolution of man and women

so if a man is going to have a crash its more likely that it will be at speed
were has a woman its going to be asda car park or town center car parks or the lamest juncion on the planet

but with evolution taking its own path and the woman of this planet doing most the school runns and having to learn about speed and safty like we have for millions of years

in the furture its more likely that women will exceed man
has we are the bread winners
our field of learning grows smaller and smaller
were has for the ladys its the other way around

Parking should be in the driving test. A number of years ago when I went to live in a foreign land, my wife and I both had to sit driving tests in order to get a local licence. All things considered it was a really crap test. 60% of it was done in reverse, parallel parking into the tiniest space, reversing round a corner into a parking space, reversing up a hill into a parking space.The remaing 40% consisted of 10mins of driving hell for leather, ignoring speed limits while the police tester got mad at you for going too slow and attempting not to ignore them too much
However the positive side of it all is that my wife is now an accomplished parker, which she never was before. ( although she would deny it)

Shirley's oldest daughter bumped her first car whilst trying to park. She had been told, by her instructor, that the back of the car will always follow the front. She took this comment literally and didn't realise that the middle of the car would move (essentially) sideways when in a tight turn.
