  • chrome paint - anyone used any

thinking this coule be a solution for our - rust from the inside - rear bumpers

mine have a few little scrapes on the chrome from the previous owner being a london driver and soem are showing the start of tinworm

was thinking like normal, clean them up, sand back the rusty bits and then treat and paint up, I was contamplating body colour or black at first, but then came across this stuff

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Chrome-Spray-P...item27b8066556

anyone got any experiences of it?

does it leave a goodchrome effect finish?

thining it could be worth a try tho, what you think??

yeah mate, £5.99 in shops here too, just that was the quickest link to it i could find..

its more for the outside finish of the bumpers, just wondered if anyone had used it, what was the 'chrome' like and how it wore over time

It's nothing like chrome when applied, chrome plating can not be duplicated using a can of silver paint.

You can get things chrome powder coated.
Looks more like buffed ally than proper chrome.

I want flat black ones in 4mm steel so when i reverse into the telegraph pole
          it don't dent the buggars......
Then a flat black front one to match.....
Ooh to have a decent workshop.......
Have the brains but not the gear......
          Remember arrows are silent.....................
Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......

I'm not expecting it to be, I'm quite aware of it being different, hence the post asking if anyones any experience of it - I'm not after shiney shiney chrome bumpers as they are mostly covered in dirt etc

i,ve used the gold and copper of the same range, think you will find it,ll be like silverette, but deffoe worth a try, just cost me for two new ones just finished second coat of laquer over four coats of galvofroid on inside so might keep tinworm at bay for a while, might give them a coat of copperslip as well
15 years in shiny club, lovely

I've used it,and chrome it certainly aint!!! It's a very bright silver if that makes sense, and dulls very quickly, even though I sealed it with a laquer!

                  Regards

Quite right! he did ask, only one way to sort out duff chrome is a new part or re-chromeing,
those cans are decieveing as the cap is chrome on plastic but the stuff inside is silver paint!!!
