  • she finaly runs at last :)

well as some of ya know ive had a fair few probs with the lux the last few weeks what with thinking i needed a new engine etc so long story short woodruff key on pump failed knocking the timing out on the pump, thanks to vince supplying the parts needed got it all back together yay started her up and she fired first time all good.

well took her for a run and she drove real well pulling like a train no probs got just outside the village i live in and frig me temp gauge off the scale boiling over and the engine cut out big time right on a roundabaout. got recovered off a mate went back to his and thinking the worst ie new cylinder head etc filled her back up with boiling water so as not to crack the head gasket/ cyl head bled her back up and start her again. cam i forgot to tighten the hose clamp on the front of the cam cover so under pressure it leaked all the coolant out doh!

she runs again yay no new head needed or gaskets etc well lucky big time i was almost in tears with joy now the next hurdle seeing if she lasts before it wants to have a brain fart again.

so a big thanks to vince for rescuing the lux with the parts needed
imgifted (jason) for the injectors etc he sent through
and everyone else who was supportive

just none of ya disapear might need more parts off ya all next week lol

After I had finished talking to you, some idiot decided to try and climb onto the BARV display ! tried to tell us it was a Chieftain chassis !!! obviously a Cent but hey he is an expert ? Who am I ? I am but a simple volunteer (simple being the operative word)

awwww bless him shoulda sent him for a long wait to hold the chasis down or if he was that much of an expert that special camo all in one paint

what centurion is it a mk5/ arrv / engineer? love the old centurions but i do like the old chieftains aswell they so have some character.

infact you might be able to get hold of a challenger mk3 easy enough chat about it sunday if you like. we have a load in storage that are being sold on. we sold a heap load of the challys to iran after the last gulf as the new chally 2 came out but we are now putting them into storage beacuse the defence cuts and we dont need as much armour nowadays. think we are still keeping a couple of sqns of challys but the bulk of them will be parked up.

The BARV is an ex Falklands veteran I keep away from the tracked stuff they can be dangerous !! The meteor engine has seen better days and our resident Scots tank reg driver says its an accident waiting to happen, so should be quite a spectacular brew-up if they don't fix it properly ! Can't really see us being allowed a Challenger (not with all that secret squirrel armour stuff all over it) We have put a marker down for a Harrier though ! I wanted a FV434 with crane and stuff but Withams are far too expensive

432 Mk3 is actually a really good wagon. Its amazing how long you can keep something "current" if you throw enough money at it.

it went wrong with the new 43 series with bulldog, the thatre ready bulldog is overweight for the engine and struggles with things the older varients didnt and has heating issues due to the extra weight.

on challys armour john we no longer use the squirrel armour you mentioned we have upgraded to chain mail now etc but the yanks now use said armour on there new abrams and bradley tanks so for once we are ahead of them on than front but the bae systems build all the yanks fighting vehicles now

Yes, its a bit weighty with the Bulldog kit on but in plain Mk3 form, its a million times better than what it replaced.

very true mate but theres not many that havent been converted to bulldog spec particulary as its one of the few bits of tracked armour we have out in theatre.
