  • Veg oil tank and equ

I'm thinking of removeing the veg oil tank and all the magubbins that goes with it so if anyones interested pm me (i will donate some folding to the forum if it goes, before anyone pipes up) the tank is a defender 110 90 ltr (i think) it has a internal heat exchanger and landrover fuel gauge, it was brand new when i got it and has not been used(filled up) since, you'll get all the fixings to strap it straight to the arse end of your truck where the spare fits (or not if you have a swing out), also an inline heat exchanger, unused motorised veg/derv changeover valve, a surf filter(complete), plus any fuel hose i take off, and heater hose, infact everypart for veg i've stuck on!!
also removeing the rear bars!! plus!! all the veg filtering $hit i made up, greenteam filters, tanks etc,
i am never gonna find a good scource of oil and even if i used the second tank as a derv long range affair i aint never gonna be able to afford to fill em both, i cant afford to fill one!
the trucks either in for a right b0ll0cking or i'll get rid of it, not sure yet, all depends if i can make a air opperated step that goes up and down as well as in and out to make it more "user friendly" for my wife, shes getting worse and it aint fair on her haveing to struggle to get in and out, so some unnessisery stuff's comeing out (prob and CB radio and mast) anyway let me know!!

That's bad news about maybe having to get rid of the truck mate, I'm gobsmacked!

Pity you weren't nearer or I would have gladly bought the oil filtering system. No doubt someone 'down sarf' is going to get a good deal.

Hope you manage to make your 'air step' Ian, if anyone's capable of doing it I'm sure you are.

    All the best mate.

    Jim.

Just felt I had to say how fabulous your surf looks - I can't believe what a fantastic job you have made.
Please don't start taking it apart till you have had a good think about making it easier for your wife to get in and out of. It looks to me like you could do anything if you put your mind to it.
Wish I lived a bit closer just so I could have a look around it.
Best wishes and hope you have a great 2011.

Thanks Jim, hopeing i can sort something out, i dont really want to get rid but we'll see, my missis getting in/out is the only problem really, i already have air on the truck so it's mainly getting some actuators man enough to lift my missis, (she's not as heavy as me tho)

thanks for the comments guys, yes it's a pit, i couldn't have done what i have without that, too s00din old for laying on the deck these days,

Whats made me decide to give it a going over apart from the wife prob is i've had a power drain for ages and after it let me down boxing day with flat batterys i decided to strip out all or most of the wiring i installed and see if it still drained, if not i'm going to rewire some of the stuff but site all the ex factory relays/fuses etc inside the cab, tidy up wiring etc, and get rid of many of the led crap, re do the roof console, mayby a smaller version as i (and the missis) still bang our heads on the dam thing

mayby the alternator is the problem but my wiring certainly want sorting out

Popeye have a look at the motability stuff - my missus went for a job there and they do almost anything you could possibly need to get in and out of a truck. I'm pretty sure you can apply for grants too.

                      Rob.

We did look at some mobility equip quite a while back, trouble was it was soooo expensive, i'm sure i can fabricate something to help her, i already have an air step but it's in the fixed position and only extends outward, so i have to carry some step ladders in the truck, it's a bit embarrasing for her (and me) hanging onto her arse while she gets in, i will check regarding grants but i very much doubt they would cover a thing like the surf, they'd probably want me to go in for an adapted berligo or summat, one guy quoted me over £400 for a hoist on the back to lift her scooter in and out, and then i would of had to make my own anchor/fixing points!! plus the boon didn't extend enough to clear the tailgate in the down position,
                        anyway, cheers Rob

Sad news Ian, I thought that truck would be with you for ever.

I have an alternator here that you can have if you just cover postage?
