right my truck froze the other day had a new stat did a 100mile round trip the other day and didn't miss a beat but the heater aint blowing hot i'm thinking the water pump is on it's way out as 2day when i was off-roading in her she spilled a fear bid of coolant can any1 help ? and if it is the pump dose the belt need doing at the same time ?

Most likely an air lock. The water pumps aren't particularly fragile.

Easier way to get the crank pulley bolt off: Wrap the left hand chassis rail with a towel. Put a breaker bar and socket onto the crank pulley bolt and rest the handle across the chassis rail. Turn the engine over on the key, a couple of short blasts and hey presto, the bolt is off, no need for gear pullers, swearing, burst knuckles or removing the radiator.Last edited by Surfer Ross; 31 December 2010, 23:09.En Ferus Hostis. 1. Remove radiator cap.
2. Start engine. Heaters on full.
3. Systematically squeeze all the rubber/rayon water hoses in the engine bay.
4. Keep doing this until the engine is up to operating temperature and both top and bottom radiator hoses are hot. You may need to get somebody to rev to a steady 2500rpm or so to achieve this.
5. Replace cap and top up level in coolant expansion bottle.
You should get rid of any air locks in the coolant circuit by doing this. Oh aye, if it keeps bubbling through the radiator cap aperture or the coolant comes out of it as foam, your cylinder head is most likely cracked.En Ferus Hostis. Be your own man. Follow nobody.Comment

pretty sure she's not cracked had her sniff tested when the stat went and had the freezing problem and it was all good thank god will try that in the morning do really love my truckhttp://www.mudmuppet.comComment
