Help with TV

I have a Philips plasma tv.

It won't trun on by the switch from standby. When you try it comes on for 3sec and goes off again. You have to turn off at mains and back on.

This has been happing the last few days.
Just now it took 5 attempts at on off at mains before it would stay on.
I fear some sort of switch ect is on the way out.

Any ideas?

I have a Philips plasma in t'other room, and had a very similar problem which went away by itself! Apparently it is a dried out electrolytic capacitor in the PSU. Does the power light flash when the telly switches off?

Yes it does mate. I have had the fire on a lot lately, might that be the issue.

I am having a few roun for beer Sunday night, it might get re moisturised then.

Seriously is there anthing I can do mate. Don't say turn the fire off

I did start looking into a repair (its a common fault with Philips Plasmas and theres a few refs on the net) but as it seemed to get better of its own accord, and I bought a new telly when we moved into the back room I didn't bother.

It did start happening during the very hot period early last summer so yes, its probably heat related.

Not quite the same Brian but my local tv repair man fixed the same common fault on my old Hitachi for £67.
Maybe worth a local call??

its a few pennys to fix
i may not watch tellys but they aint that hard to fix

even tho iam on yoshies ignore list
i have just been looking to find a pic of the 2 capacitors that are the usaral suspects

got this from google image

but thats ya problem dude and its easy fixed with a steady hand

i have even super glued my fek ups back on with good results
