just on this bud top mounting on the surfs is the way forward, front mounting is a right ball ache getting the pipework from infront of the rad to the turbo and inlet manifold. if your going to do this mod id recommend either a pajero/shogun top mount intercooler as its the easiest to fit and get going or a mitsi l200 intercooler, also the 3l you need to mod the rocker cover slightly for the bonnet to close properly. remember to take the elec fans off them or the bonnet wont shut properly. there are a fair few tech write ups on how to fit the intercoolers and ive noticed theres a few members on here that have done the same. however if your engine is very warn or old then just becarful messing with boost pressures stresses your engine alot so you could damage the engine. if its fairly new or been looked after engine you shouldnt have many probs if any. just a point to think about though its not like fitting a mahusive front mount intercooler to a skyline or supra with silly power gains from it so dont think intercooling a surf will make it a chav killer at the lights it wont but you should notice a marginal difference from standard.
