  • Useless wipers

Anyone else having wiper troubles in this weather?

Mine seem to miss a large area right in my field of vision, which obv isn't very safe. They wipe at each end of the wiper but miss a whole chunk in the middle.

At first I thought it was ice in the bit that allows the edge of the blade to flex so tried cleaning/bashing the ice out, but it brought no improvement.

    Any ideas anyone?

Some types of rubber harden in extreme cold.

Mine were doing the same. They were actually frozen. Now they've defrosted agian they're working fine.

I first thought it was ice on them but no, the blade itself was frozen stiff.
It's only kinky the first time...

Search Google for PIAA silicone wiper blades, they don't stick.

Mines always hardens and becomes stiff with different types of rubber......not good when it's cold though...
          .... Which was nice.

Any silicone blades should work fine.

Try cleaning them with vinegar and kitchen roll (cheaper than getting new wipers if this sorts them out!). You'll be amazed how much sh1te comes off them and hopefully they'll work a bit better. If you use veg oil in the truck it really WILL smell like a chip shop now though!

I use methylated spirit on both the screen and wiper blades which works a treat at getting grease and road film off. It's also good for the inside of the screen as well

Scrape all the ice off the screen. Lift each wiper away from screen and push the middle of the blade towards the screen. Drop back on screen. Problem solved.

                            Works for me anyhow.

I've got Bosch Aero twins on my truck, not tried much else and don't intend to, superb even in this weather. Early focus sized ones fit fine.

Worst most useless wipers I have ever come across were some I bought from Tescos when desperate. Most expensive ones they had, Bosch copies, shi*e from the moment they went on.
