thermostat packed up

well as it say's it packed up with the cold when my engine froze dose ant one no if it will be safe to run without one in till i get a new one in a few days just waiting for it to arrive ???

From what I'm aware you can run it without one for a short while without one and short trips etc... I think your engine will run colder than usual though cos the coolant will keep circulating! When mine went I had to take it out to be able to drive up to mills to get a new one

It'll be fine. In the current weather, it will run cold and you may find you can't get into top gear, but it's driveable.

but will it damage the engine as it's not heating up at all in this weather and cant put the heaters on co can keep the windows clear really ####ing me off now think the new one will be here Wednesday as no one round here had one in sock

no it won't harm the engine, you'll just have to put up with a reduction in heating and possibly bad fuel consumption. My head went when mine packed in in the same conditions last year, I was in the middle of a six hundred mile run at the time though so hope yours hasn't suffered similar. H

heads fine didnt let it get into the red once kept stopping and filling the water when ever it started heating up got a new stat now thanks to greeley and it's running sweat again now thank #### cant live with out it

But you didn't put water back in did you? You put in something with a name that implies it doesn't freeze??

You sure its just the stat, fountains under the bonnet aren't a good sign on the 2.4, I'd be changing that water sharpish too in this weather. H

it was defo just the stat running sweat as a nut now and filled up with nothing but antifreeze it's been sniff tested was just lucky i kept it from going into the red
