  • Potential new owner!

Hey guys and gals! I'm looking at chopping in my Peugeot 206 GTi 180 for a 1992 Hilux Surf 2.4td auto but was a little unsure about it. Not so much about the running of it, more so the buying.

    Anyway, here's the link:

I was wondering if the experienced amongst you would be able to have a little peak and let me know if there's anything immediately visibly wrong with it and if you think it looks a decent buy? Obviously you wont be able to tell me if it's mechanically sound which brings me to my next point, anything I should check incessantly when I view it?

    Thanks in advance, Lee.

Overpriced and no mention of a cylinder head replacement which it WILL need sooner or later if it doesn't need it now.

You'll get a good 3 litre for that sort of money. I wouldn't touch any 2.4 unless they had superb history or were very cheap. This has neither.

It looks reasonably tidy but it's about a grand over priced in my opinion. You're always taking a risk with a 2.4 without proof of the head having been done.

I had mine a matter of weeks before I realised it needed a replacement head but I only paid £675 so I figured it into the price in the first place.

I'd carry on looking if I were you and get yourself a 3 litre. I'd possibly do that if I was looking to buy a new Surf now. I'd also flog my own motor and get a cheaper price than part-X-ing.

You might do well to wait until the bad weather has passed too cos prices will drop after the winter.

Good luck with the Surf hunt!

as said above - it seems a littl eoverpriced

I paid more than a grand less for mine a couple of months ago and itsa 'higher' spec with less miles showing on the clock

if you want to spend that, then look for the 3.0 as many have said as its got a lot of the issues ironed out..
but mine is a 2.4 and its great

as to running costs, expect more regular services than your pug and around 22 mpg and also insurance may be a little more too
