  • heater lights????

calling all the electrical wizards !!!
+ heater control panel + push buttons work ok slider for heat/cool is lit fan speed is lit but none of the push button leds light up.

I have the heater panel out and have checked all the little leds are ok by sticking voltage up the led legs all the leds light up.
But they don't light up when in the dash any pointers or suggestions of where to start would be very greatly apreciated

Is this a heater i've altered or a stock one?
if it's stock, the only led's in it are the ones on "stalks" that light up when a particular button is pressed, all other lighting is from the two little clip in bulbs, carefully check the circuit board, plug flexi tape and plug connections, then use a test light to check the loom plug, (a wireing diag will be helpfull)
if it's one i done it may be a solder conn come adrift, if you send it to me i'll have a look,

      this is deffo stock item.
i have tried searching for a wiring diagram for the heater panel but cant find one .
i have given the board a good inspection for cracks etc but an now at a loss, I cant seem to locate a fuse for the leds and seeing as the buttons still operate the flaps it must be receiving power.

I have taken the little green covers off the bulbs to increase the light for the time being.

I have seen the mod that you are doing .very impressed.

looks like i will be hunting down and a spare heater control and sending it off so you can work your magic.

It's a real pain trying to find electrical faults, especially on circuit boards,
from looking at the board those original leds have several feed scources depending on the functions, i did pinpoint the pos & neg pins in the plug for the small bulbs curcuit but forgot to mark which was which, i'll sort a pic of it if it's any help, although these seem to be working ok on yours,
What you really need is a pin-out diag for the dash plug, been looking for one myself for ages

As a first step i'd definatly get hold of another unit and try that plugged in, at least it'll elimanate the unit is faulty (or not) if the replacement dont work either then the fault is either fuses or wireing
