My daughter is working for a tour company in Sharm at the moment, and TBH the info is not even 100% for her. She is doing her PADI course in her spare time but as yet she doesn't know when she will be allowed to dive again Also, the authorities aren't 100% sure what shark has carried out the attack and that's why they are getting an expert infrom the good old US of A!
It's a terrible shame for all - including the shark - but you'll have a good holiday none the less. I know where I'd rather be at the moment

    Cheers, Nick

Why? What noise does the Sun make and will it hurt my ears?

How do you know those reports in your link are factually correct and that the news report I heard was incorrect?

Well I suppose I could be wrong but considering that they say they have enlisted the help of a swedish vessel for research into this then I would think they knew what was going on... But I could be wrong. And yes dont go too close to the sun as it will burn your brain w with all that rubbish

Yeah, I know she's dead. A rough deal yes, but she was diving in shark inhabited waters. What do people expect? They swim up to you and let you pat them on the nose???

They can research all they like, Red Sea-Indian ocean = Nobby Clark, they've killed a couple already, they think its a different one, truth is it could be one of fifty thousand that decided to take their hols there this season as the food is good and easy to catch. We once broke down in the middle of the IO between the Maldives and Durban for 24 hours, the galley slops were getting dumped overboard, within an hour or two we had dozens of the beasties around for the food and managed to hook three, motto, you go in the water, you take your chances. Enjoy. H

Don't see what this attitute is to be honest! I'm not anti shark, she was unfortunate.
But, like they all keep saying - there must be something that has contributed or caused this irregular behavour last week. And that is what the experts are there to find.

Not wanting to let the thread get out of hand so before another person has a pop lets all take a deep breath and chill. When I arrive next week I will be diving unless there is a ban like there is now.
And no, I wont be lying about how many dives I've done - I'm only half way to advanced open water!

Just because sharks dont generally like the taste of humans, and dont generally attack doesn't make an attack abnormal. I'm not really sure why it's seen as unusual behavior. It's completely normal behavior. They are predators that GENERALLY prefer other prey to humans.

Same thing as wandering around in full view of tigers in a jungle taking snaps to show your mates. You might get away with it most of the time. Sooner or later you'll meet one having a bad day which will smack your head off for laughs.

I don't know anymore, I knew the breakdown would come, I just didn't know where and when, and with how much punctuation.
Leave me alone, stop following me. And it wasn't me who put those biscuits in your pocket.

I heard on radio BBC Sussex that the sharks had been baited with loads of sheep carcases.

If true, thats a little bit dumb isn't it?

Bit like wandering through the lion enclosure with pork chops draped round your neck.
