Hi everyone,
I'm sure a lot have done this, but I'd thought I'd mention it anyway:
When it comes to insurance renewal time (specifically for those coming to the end of a 'first year' with a provider) consider letting it lapse at midnight of the expiry date and renewing from the day after. That way you get the best quotes from companies that focus their efforts on new custom.
There may be a period of non-cover, but this can be timed to be just a few hours (just don't drive it knowing you're not covered).
My wife has done this in the past with a maritime-officer grade themed insurer and ended up saving an extra £150 - not bad for the sake of not accepting the renewal offer (which you should never do really).
HTH?
Cheers
