  • Scottish chaps - Albannach

I shall get your items boxed up tomorrow. It's +3C now, so I can get in there without freezing my gonads off!

How about I send them post free, in exchange for the best haggis you can lay your hands on? I'm doing my folks a multicultural hamper for christmas, and am still missing a proper haggis. I love those six legged mountain-beasties, so if you (or any of the Scottish chaps) can get me a freshly shot haggis, that would be great.

Tricky with all this snow mate, like mice and lemmings the wee buggers use under-snow tunnels to move about, so difficult to get a clean shot and the last thing you want is an angry wounded Haggis coming after you.

I suppose so. I'd rather not have a frozen 'farmed' Haggis. Just dont taste the same. Free range are much nicer than corn fed Haggis.

Anyway, if anyone can get out and shoot one for me ASAP, I have to deliver the hamper to my folks next weekend... Surely buckshot will travel a foot into their tunnels under the snow?

I always warn folk when I serve locally shot rabbit, same for haggis. Ever since they made haggis trapping illegal, its normal to find a bit of shot in them.

Many articles about the Haggis claim the plural of haggis is haggi. As the word is not from Latin this is incorrect – the plural is haggises.

Your best chance for really fresh Haggis is to use one of the sites with webcams to watch their movements.

I have provided a link for you.

It seems (according to the missus) that my folks dont really like Haggis! They didn't tell me last time I got them some for fear of hurting my feelings (!) so I wont send them another.

I suppose it means the one that would have died can be fatter for next year's Haggis shoots.

Andy, I'll still clear a path into the shed to get that stuff you wanted - its a positively tropical 4.5 degrees now
