  • A bit of sphincter trouble this afternoon

    Hi Folks

Driving back from our Asda visit today the dual carriageway had been cleared/ploughed so trying to get my fuel economy up for a few minutes I got the truck up to the magical 55 when I began bearing down on some granny doing 30 as we approached a curve in the road. I pulled into the overtaking lane and was just coming abreast of the old boy when up ahead the road was piled with ploughed snow reducing the dueller to the one lane. I was eating a chicken butty at the time and first touched the brake, realized I wasn't going to stop, I lifted straight off squashed my sarnie into the steering wheel and did a very bumpy/wobbly slither through the slushmount till I could get back in the inside lane.

The missus was laughing her daft head off and god knows what the old boy was thinking as I bounced by him but at least we didn't crash out or lose control, if it'd been in a car I think we'd have been pretty sorry by now, I'd love to know what the council plower was thinking about when he decided to abort the mission mid curve and leave all that $hit for me/someone to hit. H

Perhaps the "granny" you "began bearing down on" was driving at a speed, more apropriate for the wheather conditions.; And what if the snowbank you hit had been a family, with kids in a broken down vehicle?...................... ......... Enjoy your sandwich?......Mick.

Just goes to show that you have got to be on your toes in these sorts of conditions! May be 55mph, whilst driving one handed and eating a sarny with poor road conditions is not the best way to spend the evening?
Glad there were no mis haps, but what a place to just "give up plowing"??
              Oh Nana, what's my name?

Question is: "Will the obvious lesson be learned?"

Road conditions were fine up to the point they stopped plowing and I'm no boy racer, in fact 55-60 is normally my max on any road and seeing as I've been on the roads 38 years without causing or having accidents I think my judgement is pretty good, I read the road, to me it was a clear carriageway, another car would have been visible, a pile of snow not so, do none of you Łuckers overtake crawling grandads/mas on duellers or do you sit watching tailights like the lemmings who block overtaking lanes forever, mostly south of the birmingham turnoff on the M1, would this be good driving, I think not. H

PS. The lesson learned was not to anticipate the council doing a proper job

Loosen your belt a bit mush!

The fact that you admitted you were driving at 55mph around a bend in sub zero weather eating a sandwich at the same time is where you Łucked up!

I'm with Vince, you were not in control of your vehicle; ergo, you were driving like a tw@.

This is the 3rd admission of driving stupidity on here in as many days. If I were plod (who will monitor this forum) I'd be chapping your door in the morning.

Good on you for having a bit of fun, I can't wait for some snow so I can go out and frighten myself (and others around me)

                          5. Of course we do - we even make mistakes sometimes BUT when we do we either keep our gobs shut or hold our hands up !

                          6. It would appear that you've learned sweet FA

Can I ask that you publish your intended travel plans so that those of us who don't have a death wish can avoid you ?

                          PS
I don't believe that the coppers have got the time to chase down every muppet that posts summat stupid on an internet forum but I'll lay odds the insurance companys will tag all those that they can identify !

                          Have a nice day !

Everyone makes mistakes. We can all mis judge things. No harm done, OP may be needed to put the underwear through a long wash but lesson learnt - > Dont rely on the council for anything!

I know they won't/don't, but they could if they wanted.
