Woke this morning and no red glow from the clock. Another power cut. Out for 2 hours Saturday night, fuse blown in substation. Got up it was 05:45hrs. Light a few candles and report the fault. Mobile dead so found wifes in handbag. Apparently we have a hole in the cable that takes out about 6 houses in the street. Not the next door neighbours but others across the road. Power back on at 07:45hrs after wife and daughter had gone to work. Getting the house warm now. Good response from the Electricity company.

Buy a small genny, turn off all the big stuff and then back power a plug socket, we do and this keeps the light, fridge, central heating control and the pcs/telly's we turn the RCD off so we have no hassles when the power comes back on (and the light breaker) as we have separate light circuit for our old study we leave that connected so the phone bleeps when the power comes back on.
Makes us the popular house when we have the rare power cut!Nissan Patrol for on-road, and a Land-Rover 110 shed for off-road :-) -
Power cuts are expected where we are in France tonight around 6-8pm due to high demand and not enough supply
UPS will keep PC going for a while then have to dig the genny out.Comment

We had thunder and lightening yesterday morning which took the local radio station out and a few other places aswell.
