Another Blower problem....

Right.....

My rear blower has no heat coming out but blows really well.....But my front has heat (takes a while) but it has no oomph from the blower.

The blower seems to be working well when I took off the glove box, cycles through all the various positions OK but just does not blow...even on full its like it on the first setting!

Anyone got some suggestions on these two problems!

Sounds like blocked pipes for the rear one i.e. no heat getting to the heater for it to throw out so you just get cold air.
As for the front, I've never had to deal with it but personally I would start by making sure all the contacts are good and clean, relays etc.
Am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

i have to switch it about ohh so very slightly to get it to go full power
its eather slow or full i have no inbetween

try moving it very slowly wiggle it about in the full power postion(iam talking about the heater not ya wife)

Right I did a full system flush yesterday and while it was down I removed the rear heater/rad. Blew it our with compressed air just to make sure all the crap was out before I cleaned it with the flush.

Now the heater works....but only when the engine is under load.

With the engine in idle and the rear blower on full the outlet pipe just goes stone cold, if I rev the engine then it heats back up, then goes cold again when idle.

with no blower on the pipes stay red hot.

Is this normal or an idication of something else?

That rear heater is a waste of time, mine never worked properly even when i blew all the gunk out, pumps not man enough to push water all round all those small pipes, (unless your revving) best to bypass it near the engine and remove the rear rad and fan, at least that'll give ya a decent size center box if you cut the bottom out and make up a box to fit in there,
if you really do want a rear heater you could fit a electric pump in the line.

i would have never thought of makeing a box for were the back heaters are
i am having a little truble with a telescopic boom arm iam going to need for my project i think you may have just answered my question
it not once came to me about removeing the rear heater i can then fit this

Mine is grand, once the engine has warmed up it pumps out hot air with engine at idle or driving..

Sounds like there's an airlock in there.

My rear heater is nice and toasty all the time too. (Warm my left hand up on it as it gets hot quicker than the front one )

Popeye - sounds like yours is half blocked up and you need a new matrix in there..

Bin it, can cause issues with coolant loss when the pipes that feed it rot underneath the truck. Coolant loss can damage cylinder heads.
