perhaps this could be moved to a sticky?

another forum I am in - boat owners forum - there is a sticky post where you can say if you needs parts collected and moved. Anybody going in a relevant direct then mails in and offers to do some part of a journey

then sombody mails in and does the next bit of the journey and so on

it requires a high level of trust of course!!

    so I'll start:
anybody going past bristol M4/M5 junction in the next few weeks going up north, parts to be collected in Bristol and left somewhere like Manchester or Liverpool - or Whitehaven to be really useful :-)

    would this facility work?
perhaps the boat owners forum are a closer-knit less anonymous group?

I was with you, right up to that last comment. That was a ###### stupid thing to say. We call our "Movement of parts service" a Surf Train.

"The Surf Train". I like that.

I wonder does anyone make regular trips to Northern Ireland?

That was straight to the point!! I agree though, not sure what his last comment meant, and what's it based on?

              Cheers, Nick

OK it was a stupid thing to say in hindsight

what I meant was, the boat owners forum I'm on has a couple of hundred members and that's small enough to meet for dinner one or twice a year in the various regions. how many are on here?

so it's close knit by definition and also there's a printed directory comes out every year with the boat's name and owners contact details. So if you're away in a port somewhere and spot a similar type of boat, you can look the name of the boat up in the directory then wander over and say, howse it going frank or whatever ....

so no insult atfellow surf-owners, just a different setup on a different scale

How do you set up a Surf Train request - is there a forum section I haven't found yet?
I am hoping to buy a set of Gen 3 wheels from somewhere but the transport cost/time involved limits the area where I look.
                  Cheers,
                  Mark

You post up a thread asking. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
