I had 17 Entertainment (Simon Fuller - creator of Pop Idols) as a client. We were trying to injunct X Factor. Sadly the case settled before judgment, otherwise I could have been personally responsible from saving you all from it... Sorry!
I do find it hilarious that there are a bunch of people who hate Simon Cowell and X Factor so much that they are pumping massive amounts of money into the franchise by voting in their chosen joke. And that of course makes all the people who care about the other contestants vote for their favourites even more, so further increasing the revenues.
Their purported justification is that if Wagner wins "that'll be the end of XFactor". That kind of assumes that it has a credibility which it can lose. But a) it doesn't have any musical credibility, and b) it doesn't need it. It is just cheap entertainment.
As if Simon Cowell cares who wins! All he cares about is the exposure given to the final few. And there is much more exposure given to them as a result of all the media hype about Wagner. See e.g. Jedward last year. It keeps the program on all the front pages, and so provides massive free advertising.
In fact, I would not be at all surprised if the whole Wagner thing was actually cooked up by X Factor themselves. It would certainly make commercial sense.
What is a bit odd about the whole thing is why people seem to care about it. I don't much like speedway. So I don't watch it. But I couldn't give a monkey's whether anyone else does.

I hate speedway. I started a facebook crusade trying to get people to watch Trials riding so eventually there will be no speedway audiences and it will cease.
Simon Cowell. He was quite amusing on Top Gear, and he's a very shrewd businessman. Cant knock him for that. It's not his fault that the shite wannabes are thrust upon us. If the great unwashed didn't vote, there'd be no profit, and no show. It's exactly the same for all the other dross involving nobodies wanting to be somebodies such as Pop Idol, Big Brother and all the other 'I wanna be famous for any reason - I'll even drink my own p1ss!!!' type progs. Dont vote for anyone, the prog makes no money, and the prog designers will move on.
