Well I would be very interested in hearing if anyone has business use on their Surfs Insurance. My reason are this,i have three vehicles insured with Adrian Flux, and phoned them up yesterday to Change or Modify my policy on my surf as I have recently gone self employed, therefore i was aware that legally i have to add business use to my Surf.Well everything went downhill from there,as Adrian Flux could not insure my vehicle for business use,and issued a 7 day cancellation notice!!WTF,yeah my head went into a spin! They did try to help out by doing a commercial quote but couldnt do it due to the fact the surf is a 4WD,Not a pickup or a van. Then the nightmare developed further, the first phone call to More Than resulted in a"sorry we cant cover that vehicle its at the top of our risk list"but we know someone who can, that resulted in a Quote of £1645.28p !Yes you read that right. He explained that due to the fact that it was an import, and you want business use on it really really narrows the field down. Most of the other bigger insurance companies, just refused.I got told repeatably, that by being self employed you have to be insured for business use, which I understand, but why the complications?Has anyone else any company recommendations,or indeed gone through the same as me,I would love to hear.

What is your business?
Does a motor trader's policy cover you for driving anything you've got a licence for?
Out of curiosity I was checking the ABI/Thatcham websites recently (to see what insurance group Surfs/4runners were in after the change to insurance groups (now 1-50 rather than 1-20) and while they had them on the database they didn't appear to have been placed in an insurance group.

Are you talking about occasional business use, i.e. traveling between one place of work and another, or traveling to a training course. Or are you talking about using the vehicle for running a business from? The two are different, the latter will need commercial insurance?
I used to have 3,000 miles of business use on my bike insurance, as it made it cheaper for some reason.Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Received a letter from Lifesure a couple days ago that advised that if i want to have my business insurance through them (instead of AXA who i use now) they can/will include motor fleet cover which would cover my surf, my mondeo and my transit van under one policy instead of 3 different policies which they are now.
Also not sure if it applies but if you are self employed with no employees the prices start from £90 which beats AXA hands down by almost £250.
You can have Product and Public liability up to 10 mill, Motor fleet cover for private cars and commercial vehicles, automatic cover for subbies, goods in transit cover and cover for tools as well.
I'll be switching in January. If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

I am a self employed electrician, I am using Sureterm Direct, they are a broker specialising in 4x4 and business insurance. The actual insurance is through Highway and is mixed business and social insurance and includeds green laning as standard. They don't use a no claims discount scheme, and my premium is £651. I am 30yrs old and live in Surrey, this was the cheapest I could find for this area and my age.
