I have BFG AT's on at the mo, and since i've only had the truck about 6month, are they only ones i've used.
yes i do use the truck every day ON road, and also like to play at least once a wk.

May have to be BFG MT's then. Money IS an issue, but hey, we have to find it from somewhere hey?! Like the sound of the BFG's being great 'wearers' too.

    cheers lads

These are the only tyres you'll need then. No point in changing to mud tyres, the grip won't be any different off-road.

Agree. If you're green laning, BFG ATs will take you anywhere.

In snow, good ATs are in general better than muds too as they dont create 'snowballs' in front of your tyres, which flexible muds with large, self clearing voids in the tread do. Sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but its true.

However, if you're set on muds, and want to get rid of your (excellent condition) BFG ATs, assuming 16"ers, I'll think about taking them off your hands

I spent yesterday in some very sticky mud, on my third set of BFG ATs, having had BFG Muds and some Coopers once.

Without doubt the BFG AT's are unbeatable for longevity and are superb on the road. Off road in the dry or on wet grass or deep water the BFG ATs are no worse than the BFG Muds, but and this is the thing the mud clearance isn't as good, this seriously affects your grip, once the treads are full of the sticky stuff and you can't clear it you notice the difference.

I currently run 33 12.5 15s and it's my daily driver, I have the clearance to run 35s and am thinking about getting a set of 35 muds on rims just for off road, Grizzly Claws maybe.

Whist I've been looking I've noticed a number of regular stockists of Kumhos showing as having no stock?

I've got Mastercraft MT's - got them secondhand of Fleabay....

Swapped from General Grabber "all weather" road biased tread.
Observations are, more grip in dry weather, less in wet. Noisier, but acceptable tyre noise, quite nice sound tbh. not too intrusive. wearing very well. Seem to be very good in the mud, but can't really compare to other muds. Nothing wrong with them imho, but then again, if I had a choice, I'd probably opt for BFG Muds... No one ever has anything bad to say about BFG's... must be a reason for that!

I've got the Mastercraft MT's, wearing very well and okay on the road, bit noisy.

Fine in the mud and they have survived well, few chunks missing and a few sidewall scores.
The tire fitter I use had to repair a puncture on one of them and he said he had never dressed a tire as solid as these, the sidewalls are very strong and the lug pattern clears decently off road compared to some others.
I've used them in deep snow and they work ok.

BFG's are more expensive and never get a bad word said against them, I've driven them on a Surf and they are def better on the road and a bit better in the worst mud.

These might be a better option, never get punctures (although they might fill up with mud!)

              Clown!

They normally have a sidewall - they just cut the sides off to show you the construction.

                40,000!

They just seem to last and last. I had BFG AT's before - came with the Surf. They were about 1/3 worn. I decided that when they wore out I'd get BFG muds. Gave up waiting in the end - they wear well too! Bloke who fitted my muds (ATS) gave me £100 for ATs and didn't charge for swapping them over. His business is tyres, he knew a good one when he saw one.

Surely the MT's will be better off-road than AT's?

I have pretty much gone anywhere that my mates - with mud's - have gone on my normal AT's but, surely getting the MT's will only make it better?

MTs might make it better, but if you are getting everywhere your mates get, maybe they dont need muds?

Unless you're hammering pay and play, you dont need muds. You certainly wont need them for green laning in the UK. If you need mud tyres and would get stuck on ATs, you are probably risking having the trail closed due to moaning by the bobble hatted tw@ts, as you're probably tearing up the trail.

Keep your ATs, fit locking diffs instead and your mates won't be able to follow where you can go!
