  • Mud's..... which are best??

i've just had prices for 3 diff tyres, and all round the £500 mark give or take a couple of quid.

    32" Mastercraft
    33" BFG MT
    33" Cooper STT

Anyone 'wearing' any of the above i would like to know how you get on with them, on road and more importantly off road..

I'm happy to get any of them, but leaning more toward the Mastercraft..

    what are your thoughts?

    cheers

If money is not an issue, then get the BFGs

    also

have you considered Kumho's KL71s. My favorite offroad tyre, however not as good onroad as the BFGs.

I've used Mastercrap and Coopers and BFG.

BFG are easily the best IMO they last much longer too.

Plus the sound of muds on the road make your nuts swell aswell.

Surprised how good they're wearing Gordon n handling is better than expected on slippery/damp road conditions ...

I've got BFG Muds. Been on for 2 1/2 years - 40000 miles plus. Good on road, great off road. Not even a 1/3 worn! There may be better performing mud tyres, though I don't know of any that will last as long.

I've got the khumo kl71 muds on the jeep and there great both on and off road. That said, I just put BFG A/T's on the surf and found it could go through the same stuff as the jeep and even some stuff the jeep couldn't lol
I don't think you would go wrong with either IMHO

                All the best

Is that 40,000 or 4,000 miles??

40'000 wouldn't surprise me for BFGs.

I put about 20'000 on a set of BFG ATs and they were pretty much as new! Stunning tyres on and off road, and well worth the extra.

BFG...well worth the premium. The kl71(which I had),were great, but as a directional tyre, I had to turn them in the rims quite often. I still got over 50 000 miles from them though. Cooper mt's...worst tyre I've ever had on a car. Had them in 31's...dreadful tyre, they wore unevenly and gave my steering wheel the shakes.

An interesting side effect no doubt!!

YOu may want to ask yourself, do you really want muds depending on how often you are offroad to on. I have only ever used BFG A/T's and can't recommend them highly enough,

                          Cheers, Nick

If you use your truck on the road much at all, DONT go any more extreme than BFG pattern. I had extreme ones for about 6 months and the truck was near undriveable on the road.

Steering - non existent, brakes - hilarious, noise - unbearable after a few miles, wear rate - enormous! Going to BFG ATs improved the road manners enormously and didn't hurt the offroad ability noticeably.

wow i'm loving all the ideas,/advice.
I have BFG AT's on at the mo, and since i've only had the truck about 6month, are they only ones i've used.
yes i do use the truck every day ON road, and also like to play at least once a wk.

May have to be BFG MT's then. Money IS an issue, but hey, we have to find it from somewhere hey?! Like the sound of the BFG's being great 'wearers' too.

                              cheers lads
