  • First time stalling

Had a laugh earlier the Surf stalled going down a hill with a dodgy camber, very slippery concrete road. Luckily the grass verge stopped me piling into another motor.

Why did my motor stall when my foot was off the gas, does it need retuning or something? Could it be $hit in the tank or fuel filter etc.

Any help with this would be good as the search function is on Holiday !

Were you low on fuel? Has it ever done it before or after on a flat surface?

Damn right. It should be the first thing a newbie sees when logging in!

                      Hi Tony,
Yes come to think of it ,it's happened before on the flat. Fuel 3/4 full. What amused me was the steering went. But would still like you to give me some idea of my problem.

I'll try the search function again if it's back on line. And yes lads i do know how to use it.

You mean the power steering went or the wheel locked?

Hi, Yeah the power steering went, as there was no power. It just surprised me as i was 35ish down a slippery concrete road. Wanna make sure it does not happen again.

I see in the SEARCH FUNCTION, that that there might be three causes.

New fuel filter needed , Vacuum on the fuel tank and Loose or cracked pipes to fuel management.

It also said that it was a good idea to load the filter with Red ex or similar.

                          Any help appreciated Guy's. Cheers

If the engine cut out when coasting, I would check the vacuum pipes on and around the inlet manifold are secure first.
Then check the idle speed with a hot engine in Neutral or Park and adjust via the throttle cable if too low.
Third, fill a new fuel filter with injector cleaner, pour the rest into the tank.
Whats the transmission fluid level like?
