  • Fitting 6x9 speakers into 3rd Gen

I've spent a couple of hours searching here but the relevant threads are all 2nd Gen-related.

I don't want to compromise rear space with a sub, so I have some 6x9s to install into either

    a) where the current rear door speakers are or
    b) into the plastic of the boot side panels

Obviously the doors are the preferred option - has anyone done this (on a 3rd gen) or if this is a no-go, how easy is it to remove the boot side panels to get a neat hole cut?

    Cheers for any advice

    speakers

i put 6x9s in the boot panels on mine - i cut 2 pieces of mdf the same size as the rear panels and screwed them in with speed clips - means you can remove them and re fit the small doors at a later date. a bit of loft insulation in the boxes before fitting to stop the plastic vibrating.

they sound pretty good and it was an easy fit

      oops

just noticed yours is a 185 - not sure if the rear panels are the same as the 130
