Dump valves do have a practical purpose despite their image, ( and I want to pick a fight with anyone who disagrees with me. ) they do work and fitted to automatic vehicles. ( I'll beat up anyone who says otherwise. )
They are designed to work when you foot comes off the gas pedal, ( I'm right and everyone else in the world is wrong. ) NOT when changing gear,when driving an auto you come off the gas to press the brake, ( I know this and you are all totally ignorant in the ways of anything technical,) causeing the dump valve to release pressure between the turbo and the throttle body protecting the turbo ,( and trust me, I know everything about everything, ) although I would go with a recirc valve over a atmospheric valve. ( So accept everything that I say, or I'll take you all outside, one by one, and give you all a good kicking.)

My remarks wernt directed at anyone , just people who can't make sensible comments, if the people who have made comments to boy racers linking recirc valves to them is not really a constructive comment imo.
Next thing you all getting menstrual saying about laughing and getting dyno after a dump valve, (#### knows why you would do that) all very childish and need to grow up and use the forums for what they are designed for, not slating people and digging them out like playground antics, why not act your age, want to act like babies go on Facebook or Jeremy Kyle

I rebuilt a Supra Blow off valve once, obviously it was on a free revving petrol engined performance sports car not a old oil burner.

I did think about asking originally if DeLorean's had dump valves fitted but realised it wasn't 1985.

You're unlikely to get any discernible compressor surge or potential compressor stall when you're running such low boost on these surfs hence why they don't bother with them at the factory.

It's a 3ltr engine and the compressor housing on these turbos is pretty small so the engine is easily coping with the turbos output, also the throttles are always open on these even at idle so any positive pressure on overrun is used up straight away.

On a petrol turbocharged motor it's a different story.
