hi there all, ive just sold my suzuki sj, and was going to get a discovery(sorry for swearing) but i saw a surf and thought that was a better option, i am a jap fan and doing a bit of research on diff lock i found this forum, been reading it quite a lot and you all seem a good bunch, but i do have a few questions.

when i registered in the terms it says no flaming? whats that?

secondly, surf questions now,

ive concluded that a 3.0 diesel is what im after, and a gen 3, but what year did they start? and why a gen3? is there some major advantage over earlier ones?
i havent bought one yet, so im probably going to be nagging you all quit a bit.

i dont know many of the answers for you but thought id say hi as noone else has

no flaming? maybe its a no smoking forum, i dunno

3.0l diesels have more power, are more economical and last better than the 2.4's apparently but ive had 2 2.4's now with no issues

dont know what year the gen3 started but apparently they have more room in the back for the hairdryer and curlers than in the second gen ones

and as for nagging , go for it!

3.0s have pore power than a 2.4 (obviously!)

Some models of 3rd gen have a centre diff (unlike a 2nd gen) which will allow you to use 4wd on the road - you can't do this on a 2nd gen 'cos it bugg ers it up!
