at the moment, if i press the button - nothing

if i put the key in th eboot i can here it clicking as it tries, but no movement..

noticed wiper hadnt docked so moved it by hand, then window moved about 1/4" and stopped..

any ideas where to start? also is there a manual override??

            pop the boot open
see the catchs on the side that let the back door know its locked
pop them in with a screw drivet

this lets you send the window up and down with out it being closed
be carfull because it can just fall out if you send it up too much best off being a 2 man job

            like this

pop off ya door card before hand
            its held on with these

and take off the rapping witch ripps easy try not to rip it
then there is a metal backing plate take that off too

            the insides look like this

grease all the runners cogs and vasaline all the rubbers on the window

if its your motor thats gone its
do the same has this is were the motor for the back window is
            your motor looks like this

and dont forget if you need to take the door handle off
            take the bolts out

remove the pin arms on both your door lock and handle
make sure you know what way they came off because they are not the same

any how i have loads of pics
give me a shout if there anything else you may need to know before ya take it apart

other people on here know a lot more than i can ever tell you

ohh yea its better if you play a bit of this while doing it

Common problems are: motor worn out/gear broken and the channels at the bottom of the window rust. RoughTrax do a replacement

If it wont go down, I think its a case of climb into the boot take off the panels and make it go down manually by removing the motor and pushing it down to get the tailgate open and investigate
“Do or do not... there is no try.”

A motor from an mr2 fits, you just need to turn it 180 degrees and is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Only if you buy an O/S one. N/S fits in correctly, but the plugs may be different.

Most similar year Toyota motors will fit.

my opinion-from experience - for what it's worth - get a motor that fits in the correct orientation - ie motor above gear.
if you get a different handed motor and mount it 180' out - yes it will fit and work but condensation can and will gather in the motor and with the motor below the gear - will not be able to drain or escape - causing corosion in the motor windings etc and lead to premature failure.
It happened to me a while back.
Incidently you could swap it for one of the rear doors motors if you don't use them often??
Plenty of motors on ebay some even recond' or service exchange for £60 ish - new one from dealers will be a small fortune.

window wont go down, so cant pop boot open

if its just clicking could it be electrical rather than the motor??

If you hold the rear wiper up, does it work then?

you can gain access to mech with boot closed. just climb in the back via rear seats.
