  • Wheels and Tyres.

    Hi,

I appreciate this may have been done to death in numerous other threads - but as a complete novice when it comes to this stuff I thought it easier to just ask according to what I'm considering.

OK - most KZN185's run on 16" rims and standard tyres are 265/70.

Mine when I bought it had 15" rims and 215/80's. These are probably standard, one of those narrow-bodied KZN130/185 cross over things I have going on.....

I'm more or less certain I can consider moving to 16" wheels without any problems.

Q: at the risk of looking a bit dull - what is the difference between a 31" tyre and say a standard 265/70? And is a 31" tyre for a 15" wheel the same (apart from the bleeding obvious) as a 16" wheel, i.e the overall diameter is 31" so it's the sidewall depth that's different?

What is considered to be the most usual upgrade wheel/tyre wise? 16" wheels and 31's?

    Cheers

          Thanks for that link, Apache.
Just worked out that if I replaced the 265/70/16 HT tyres on my truck with 275/75/16 ATs it will not only grip better off road, but will also make the speedo nearly 100% correct. Currently over reads by 5.5%

I was proffering the chance for the wise and clever to post lots of knowledge and show how clever they are and how worthless we are. Or I am sorry.
