This all reminds me of a sketch many moons ago on 'Not the Nine O'Clock News', a parody of the then current ad depicting a new fully robitized car assembly line, think it was Austin-Rover.
Scene is a car assembly line, staffed by multiple copies of the NTNOCN crew,
conversation along the lines of,
"Hey Bob, you got the Torque Wrench?"
"No, Bob over there has it."
"OK, Hey Bob, Bob says you have the Torque wrench"
"Nah I gave it to Bob"
"Right, I'll ask Bob then"
etc
etc
Finally, camera pulls back, cue voiceover
"The all new Austin Rover Metro, built in England, by Roberts
