Would it make any difference to the engine,i.e. making it run quieter and smoother. See http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic878...ght=stroke+oil

This definitely works, but note that "Yamaha fan" uses "homoeopathic doses" of 2 stroke oil.
This is vital.
As you probably know, the dilutions of active substance in homeopathy are as follows:
1 molecule of active substance in a sphere of water with a diameter of about the distance between the earth and the sun.
And of course you need to bang the substance against a leather post 20 times, or it doesn't work
(for a fuller explanation of the somewhat unusual tenets of homeopathy, I recommend Ben Goldacre's Bad Science).
The hardest part about the "2 stroke oil solution" is therefore probably measuring out approximately one billionth of a drop into the tank.Last edited by flounderbout; 13 October 2010, 19:19.

Oh, and the way in which "The engine-research centre of well known German car manufacurers" tend to publicise the results of "long term tests of diesel additives" is to tell some guy who can't spell on the internet, and then let him spread the word.
Saves on costs in these recessionary times.

It is the magic elixir, I use two stroke oil on my hemi's
It definately shrinks them and makes them less itchy, I would like further tests carried out though.
Maybe make the Milliband brothers drink a litre or so every morning and see if it stops them talking cr4p.Sent from the iPad you "lost"

"Homeopathic" doses, which is what the chump in the link claims to use, are about 10 to the minus 400. Which is less than one molecule of substance in a sphere of water of unimaginably huge size.
In other words, none at all. Nada. So what he is actually saying (although it is unlikely he understands it) is that he is using no oil at all in his mix.
Then there is "potentisation" and "succession", which involves hitting the homeopathic remedy against a leather post (I kid you not).
The point is, when someone on the internet is purporting to give a "scientific" explanation for some fairy dust effect that the major manufacturers apparently do not recommend for wholly unexplained reasons, and that chap starts citing "homeopathy", then it is probably safe to assume that he is talking total garbage.
I have no idea whether adding oil has any effect. But I do know that "Yamaha-fan" is talking out of his smooth running and efficient arse.
