Hi, Duane. With the greatest of respect, that is the most confusing post I've read since George discovered earth magnets!.....Cheers.....Mick.

I know what you mean I think, although is it not the way it's driven?

Driving style can help (a bit), but after driving others I can conclude mine has the smoothest (that's the polite way of saying lazy) transmission.
It's excellent offroad, but when it comes to pulling onto a roundabout, well you're looking for a gap similar to what HGVs need.

Took her out for her first run since July Thursday, and she still feels just as nice to drive (once you've got her moving) as she did back in 2003. Not bad considering some of the things I've done to her, including dragging a garden shed to it's new plinth.

That just reminded me of when I whent to look at what later became my sisters truck. The dealer said to my sister that it was the powerfull 3 litre not the underpowered 2.4, so you could move outhouses with it. At that point my sister looked at me didn't you use your underpowered 2.4 to move those sheds in the garden. Dealer looked like he'd swallowed a wasp.
Sorry I degress down memory lane there. I'll stop typing now.

Is it Auto? Could it be the torque converter? Or could it be it's just the 2.4 engine? My 2.4 took ages to build up enough boost to give back any sort of power - I bought it after the previous owner fitted a intercooler which would have increased the turbo lag.

Probably the torque converter, but it hasn't altered over the years, so I drive around it knowing that any thought of tuning the engine would be absorbed by the box.

I never attempted overtaking on the motorway in the 2.4! As soon as you tried it, someone would be trying to overtake you! If you had a run up though and didn't loose speed, or hit a hill then it wasnt tooooo bad.
The 3.0 litre is the same for me now, except instead of the above happening at around 60mph it now happens around 80 - 90mph. I shouldn't be going that speed anyway.

                    I thought it was a 3.0?
Unless the OP has the BHP and lb/f figures mixed up?

No, because it's not possible. Well, not for more than a few seconds before it explodes anyway.

...and don't forget thats AT THE WHEELS. All manufacturers quote HP at the fly. Taking into consideration drive train loses, which I would imagine, once that power has gone through the sloppy auto transmission, transfer box, prop, half shafts and big, fat, heavy wheels and tyres would be considerable, would mean a fly HP reading of easily 260 FWHP, probably more, now considering the original 3.0 engine when new was circa 150 FWHP, that's SOME increase, stickers or not.
                          Spill the beans OP, Please!

When did it get an official undercover "project X" status?
