Idler

I've got to do my timing belt soon and have bought the belt and tensioner - do I need to do the idler at the same time? do the bearings go? my engine is a bit rattley and squeaky - I'm going to change the power steering and alternator belts at same time.

It's prudent to change the idler and water pump when you do the timing belt on a 2.4. I have a nearly new idler if you want it, £22 delivered.

As you have an LN130 same as me, then get

And from what I've read , also because of the bits that have to be removed to do the belt on a LN130, you should also change:

Water pump
and coolant, as the job really requires the rad to be taken off.

That's the kit I bought - will do as Albannach suggests and change water pump and idler at same time - along with coolant and thermostat

I'll take it, will have to wait a few days though, I used my card in the builders merchants and they managed to charge me twice! Waiting for a refund!
