Kitchen worktops

Hi all,

I need a good carpenter - does anyone know anybody local to me or willing to travel? (South Ruislip - HA4)

I'm fitting a new kitchen and a mate was going to come over and router the joints on my worktops for me but he's let me down and can't do it for me.

All I need is two right angle joints and the hob and sink cut out.

I can't do it myself as I dont have the Router, bits or jig and they're 54mm solid surface worktops and weren't cheap so I need them done perfectly!

Oh & you don't router them like a laminate worktop, it's done slighty different on solid tops.

do you mean because you have to (sort of) biscuit join them too?

I biscuit all types of tops regardless but with solid tops your male & female cuts are only a very slight trim on each joint so that you are virtually just butting them together.

Sorry mate no im not & it would be a 400 mile round trip . Your talking £100 just in diesel, it would be eaiser & cheaper to get a good joiner out of the yellow pages.

Correct.
Especially with the 'farmhouse' (free standing) kitchens, I used to screw the worktop to the corner base units from underneath. It also makes it easier to get the overhang equal around the Belfast sinks too.

Think ive only done one solid top kitchen this year, most of them have been granite or corian which is great because i just get someone in to do them for me.
