The additional cooling is only really effective when the gearbox is working extra hard anyway, like when towing up hill but always useful to have.
Hi Mike. The main reason i want the extra cooling is for the towing of 2.5t quite alot and for long journies.I will make sure the cooler is put in a place where its gonna get the best airflow through it aswell then back to the rad.i am going to see which way works best though and thats just in through the cooler or through the cooler and thenthrough the rad

          Hey rich, hows it hanging.

When you get round to fitting a cooler could you post pic's & give a step by step run down on how you did it please.

Think i'll be fitting one this year just to be safe, seeing as the tin snail will be getting alot more use next year.
If its not broke don't fix it.

                  Rich

did mine a couple of months ago but turned out the head was cracked anyway.

Fitted mine so that the flow from the gearbox goes to the additional cooler first then to the rad then back to the box.

On mine, there are the 2 metal pipes coming out of the gearbox to the bottom of the rad, the lower pipe is the send one and the upper one the return.

Just took off the existing rubber pipe from the send pipe, plumbed in the additional 13 row cooler, mounted it in front of the rad so it gets max airflow and jobs a good 'un.

Bought it as a kit from a motorsports ebay seller, 13 row MOCAL cooler, fitting kit (the plastic things that go through the main rad) and 7m of hose £84.00 delivered.

All I had to was buy better quality jubilee clips, took longer to get the truck on ramps & get the bash plates off that plumb & fit the cooler

Also did the viscious fan re-fill as well.

Even tho' the truck has a nice new head, I'm now a lot more confident that overheating is a thing of the past for me - she tows a big caravan (1600kg) up hill now and the gauge hardly moves from just below the middle and now never more than just below 2/3rd's up

                  hope this help

Cheers H thats ideal.I'm sure the head on mine is ok but when i do the service i will do the sniffer test 1st anyway just to make sure. The temp drops back failrlt quick as long as the heater is on full. The temp is ok on the flat going at a steady speed but its just on the hills and in very slow moving traffic while towing.Once sorted i will post back to let you know how things are

I don't want to fit it in front of the main rad so it will need to be fitted below it but that one looks ideal actually. All the fins are in place aren't they terry.
