I understand that there is a device that looks not dis-similar to a short Maglite that gives no visible light at all - Google Fleshlight.

Good thanks - metalwork will be removed from his thumb in a couple of weeks, then he goes back to work!

He's a lucky lad. Hope he's gonna stick with the (presumably new) bike and just carry a big hammer to put through the screen of dickheads who cut him up / pull out in front of him - or find a quieter cycling route!

                            To get back on track.......
Have a look at the Deal Extreme website for Cree LED flashlights (torches). These are small handheld torches which provide brilliant light. I use a MTE SSC P7-D strapped to my pushbike. Super bright for its size. All the cars coming towards me dip their lights thinking I am another car.
They use an odd size rechargable battery (18650) which you get from the same website along with a cheap charger.
Priced in US dollars but the Paypal exchange rate is pretty good. I have used them 3 or 4 times and DX are much cheaper for anything comparable available over here.
                            Cheers,
                            Mark

Did some research on those batteries yesterday. From what I could tell, they are just AA batteries, but they are 3.7 volts per battery.

Looked up the website, the torches look good. Very high output!
