I totally agree, that's why I was going to use steel not ally, Ally cracks, steel just bends. The wishbones are just made from mild steel aren't they?

They are just mild steel. They are though formed into a specific shape, and the way they are formed gives them great strength.

I might have a go, I should be able to get a bit of steel for nothing - If i'm not happy with the result then i'll order some!

I am all for making stuff yourself so don't take this the wrong way.
The question you have asked makes me duty bound to ask you to, get an adult to help.

The guy I'm doing a little part time work for (who has all the machinery) is a welder and fabricator, he makes steel frames for buildings, Steel/stainless staircases, also does brass, copper, alluminium etc - Obviously I'd get him to help me out. He also builds some parts for skip lorries and commercial vehicles. I haven't done much metal work since I was a school, so will need as much help as I can get!

If I use 2" coil spacers on the rear (which will take me to 16" wheel rim to arch) do I need to make any changes to the panard rod? ie cut and weld?

No it's when you put the lc springs on it throws out the rear


I ran +2 springs with coil spacers and it was fine .....

Sweet 'cos that's exactly what i'm going to do, I do need +2" shocks though don't I?

No the old +2 procomp ones didn't work too well you would be better off with the standard length uprated ones

wont they top out? there is nothing wrong with the shocks on my truck (except the rubbers at the bottom look a bit rough) but I thought I'd need longer ones, I was going to go for:

Sorry if I seem to keep asking the same questions over and over it's just once I get my truck to bits I don't want to find there is something i've forgotten and need to put the truck back together to go and buy/order/wait for delivery of.
