If you compress the air into the engine you get more power output from the same amount of fuel due to the increased explosive force created.

Its not compressing the air, its merely an obstruction spun by the air thats being sucked in by... yes, the combustion process

This is why a jet engine is far more efficient than am internal combustion engine found on all modern vehicles.
