  • Shock lifespan

I bought new shocks all round last year and have been given an advisory on O/S misting oil. It hasn't been off roaded or abused, could it just be a dodgy shock or is the lifespan pants on 4x4 shocks? By the way they were bought from Milners so they are not cheap crap! Thanks in advance!

Misting oil? what ########, a shock leaks or it doesn't.

Have a look at it yourself mate clean any crap off it run it for a few days and re check. 1yr old you will be unlucky if it is indeed leaking.

Not quite true. Misting oil means there is a slight mist of oil, but not sign of a leak. So not a failure, but a sign that the shock is on it's way out (my sisters has had this with her front which I'll be rePlacing sometime soon). As for lifespan, my sisters is original on an M plate, my aftermarket ones have been on since either 2004 or 2005 (can remember which year off the top of my head) and they are still in good condition.
        Gone from 4x4 to 1x2
