A big hello to all from the wet and miserable UK!
OK I have a 1992 (J plate) Surf SSR-X with about 50k miles on the clock, a clean, never abused example. I don't think it's ever really done any work at all. Anyway, I was reading the thread someone made about fitting manually locking hubs, I don't see the advantage? Unless your ADD system is somehow broken perhaps? Why would you want to go from just pressing the 4WD button on the side of the range selector, to having to get out in the wind/rain/snow etc to manually lock the hubs? Mine has ADD and when the back end loses traction I just drop the revs, hit the button, hear/feel the clunk, see the 4WD light up and away I go again, I can't understand why anyone would want to do away with this hugely convenient and effective system?! Or am I missing something here?
Since I've become quite hilux obsessed of late, this is a really great forum to come across, keep up the good work admins!
