Oooh, more on bump stops. Be careful, as the bump stops stop the suspension drooping so much that the CVs bind and blow themselves to bits - just the sort of injury you could do at a pay and play site...Originally posted by dieselboy View PostThe upper control arm is very close if not touching the upper rubber bump stop. I didn't know this until the other day, and have no time / means to lower the truck or trim the bump stop for Avalanche.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

Already done it! Sortof.. Thanks for the warning. I'm hoping that with the diff being lowered it would be okay. Suppose if it breaks thats when the mass drinking startsOriginally posted by Apache View PostOooh, more on bump stops. With the diff lowered the CV angles is just like how it was when the torsion bars were wound up on my SSRG. Just a slight angle downward. Avalanche will test it I suppose.Last edited by dieselboy; 28 July 2010, 23:22.Oh Nana, what's my name?

You can check by jacking up the truck at the front and turning the front wheels by hand when the sus is at max droop. If your wheel turns with a clunking, you're in trouble. If it wont turn more than about 1/3rd of a turn, you're in BIG troubleOriginally posted by dieselboy View PostAlready done it! Sortof.. Thanks for the warning. With a diff drop, the UJs will probably be OK - you're diff might take a bit of a beating if you catch a big rock though!Cutting steps in the roof of the world

I speak from experience. Wishbone spacers fitted, bumpstop cut down. Didn't have diff drop as I agree with Yoshie, its kind of pointless if your lift is for ground clearance and not for appearance.
Front jacked up with sus at full droop, there was definite binding, and offroading I experienced pinch holes of inner CV boots in 3 equally spaced places. Replacing the bumpstops with new ones stopped it happening and saved my CVs.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

I take it you didn't remove both bits of the hub? To get to the circlip, you need to take the black part off too. The circlip is kind of important, so you need to make sure it's fitted properly.Originally posted by dieselboy View PostAs I have found!
Do you know much about this circlip? I think it's off! We put a new shaft in tonight and we were rushed - I could see the circlip stil in there so I held it with a finger whilst we pushed the shaft through.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

It turns without noise (now).. I'll recheck as I'm now paranoid. Cheers!Originally posted by Apache View PostYou can check by jacking up the truck at the front and turning the front wheels by hand when the sus is at max droop. When I first did it it turned without noise but on the lane there was the nasty CV feck noise

If it's a bad thing then I wont! I read that it's advised to do so for more travel but now it's been mentioned more travel may cause excessive CV angle :pOriginally posted by Apache View PostI was referring to Dieselboy's post. He has / is going to. Was just pointing out it can be dodgy to do so.Oh Nana, what's my name?
