You might both be right in your two previous posts... however, the original question, which was asked as a check on the honesty of the dealer, was - Is a MPH speedo required for an MOT?
The answer to that question is - No.
Cheers, Alan
You are wright - however I dont see a problem with extending the discussion when I posted in the General section
Anyway proved to be not much of a test as an mph speedo was fitted.
PS I do like do like driving this little car - cannt wait to get it offroad

I hope you enjoy your new toy.As said I still love my old girl
even after 3 years.
It looks like the people you brought the car from know what they
are doing as we discussed a lot of "dealers" just punt out the
cars straight from the docks without propper prepperation.
Got any pics? I would if I could a bit beyond me.
All the best regards Chris
Just to put the cat among the pidegons,if the vehicle was
involved in an accident and it was found that inappropriate
use of speed was a major factor in the accident, would the
insurance be invalid as the vehicle could be seen as not type
approved for use on U.K.roads?
As we all know that your insurance company are very good in
taking your money BUT they will try to wriggle out of any
claim if the could??????????
Just a thought Chris
Over in Ireland all road signs are in MPH. Speedos which read KPH arent a problem at test. I bet we have the same conglomerate insurers. Havent ye heard over there yet, the EU is soon to wield a big axe on the MPH countries and its coming soon.....I cant believe the UK hasnt begun to allow the shift to begin
for the mot the vehicle does not have to show the miles in mph, the law states as long as the vehicle shows a valid speed and recorded miles ie, mph or kph that is acceptable,
but for vehicles less than 10 years old that are presented for a sva test the indication must be in mph as a requirement of the type approval test not a mot.
but if you want to convert it yourself its very easy to do and the parts can be bought from evolution in southampton ..
