  • 2.4 / 3.0L Dilemma???

I've got a 2.4 1993 SSR-X and a 3.0 1995 SSR-G coming into the country next month. After looking for a long time I bought the 3.0L first only to see the 2.4 come available the following week.
The 2.4 is the right colour and spec of what I wanted but I'm a bit worried about a possible head problem cropping up and am now beginning to think I might keep the 3.0L........

I've attached pics...... Black one is 2.4, Green 3.0L

One of them has to go as soon as its in!

    Suggestions / opinions are welcome!

    Rob.

Swap the wheels and keep the sexy black one, if the head does go later on should only be around £1k, worth that for such a nice looking surf

I`ll go along with that, black is the best colour, sorry lads but mine is black and she is soo sexy! Reading thru the forums the 3ltr seems the best buy (engine wise)tho,I have had mine for about a year now and im really pleased with her every time I drive her it is like getting in for the first time, only had a problem with the starter up to now!

      Cheers

          hmmm....

Initially the 3.0L was due in first - my plan was to get it SVA'd registered etc. and see how I got on. Then when the 2.4 came in I could do a like for like.
Unfortunately they're now both due in within a week of each other making the decision more difficult.

I must admit - the Black one 'does it for me' Ooo-err missus.

          Anyone want a 'bargain' 95 3.0L........in Green??

          Cheers,

          Rob.

Buy the green 3ltr and have her resprayed black! Then you'll have the best of both worlds.

I like the look of the black one best, but I'd swap the wheels and keep the 3.0. Once you've driven both there isn't really a choice!!

Deffo cannibalise the black one for the nice bits and stick em in the Green, then sell the nice but suicide-prone black...or....you could always sell em BOTH and use the slim profits to get a PROPER colour 3.0 TD

Oh yeerse, thats what you want to do.

                  Sell 'em both?!?!?!?!

IT would be worth considering but for the fact that I can't wait to get my grubby paws on a surf.......I've waited too long already!!

Drive them both, then come back and honestly say you want to keep the 2.4. Can't see it happening.

From just looking at the 2 pictures the green one looks smarter and it has the side cladding which is very very rare and extremely practical.

Black is fine if you like washing and polishing cars...

                          Ah b*gger it!!!

                          After a rethink I've decided........
to pave the front lawn and make a wider drive so I can get them both on side by side. That way I'll have one for a-posin' and one for off-roadin'. Only joking.

Thanks for all the input. My eyes are saying black one, my brain is saying Green one.........I'd be happy with either one if I had it NOW!!!!

Actually, you are in a pretty unique postion to offer us all an opinion on both -you are a consumer not a seller (yet) and hopefully can be pretty objective 'cos you dont really need to justify your buy - Heck, you got both!

Can you do a really thorough write up comparing the performance and driving habits of both? A lot of newbies would love to read something like that , I am sure.

I could have done with a narticle like that too, when I started out looking ofr one.

You are also in a good position to do "comparitive anatomy" - Do photies where the oil filters are etc. Bet you wish you didnt put this thread up, dont you? Teaches you to show off!

                            Looking forward to it.

                              Bugger!!!

I don't have a great experience of 4x4s (I'm a 4x4 virgin other than getting to drive a navara a few times) so I don't know how objective any write-up would be but I can certainly have a go.

As for pics - that's no problem. One is in mid-july the other the end of July. I'll go around both cars and take pics from same spots on each. If anyone wants any specific ones, let me know and I'll start a list.
