I recently returned to the world of surfs after foolishly straying and got myself a 1994 3.0l SSR-G. It seems pretty sound and I'm enjoying it but it does have a few little bits that i need to do to get it really good.
There's a metalic rattling that is definitely coming from the drivetrain as it increases with power and goes when I lift off. There's also a definite clunk when I go from D to Reverse and the other way. I've looked on here and it seems I may have worn bronze bushes (the sound seems to come from front but I can't tell which side) but would this be consistent with the clunk when chaging from D to R etc? Could it be prop shaft related?
As a precaution I was going to get the coolant flushed and changed along with the ATF fluid. Should I go all the way and get a new radiator or is that overkill without any reason to do so? I noticed the temp gauge creep up to 3/4 under load on a long trip but quickly went down again. But the coolany is very dirty so may not be cooling efficiently.
Th only other bit that definitely doesn't work is the cruise control. The light goes on but when you press set, it flahes for a while and then goes off. No function at all. Could this be an electrical fault somewhere or should I look around for new parts? what would I need?
