TBH if they are caught (not by the police) and you have time for a bit of self proclaimed justice cut the tendons at the back of the knees as these can't be re-attached and will have them in a chair for the rest of their lives and everytime they get outta bed they will remember the error of their ways as the justice system in the uk is too soft in its sentencing in cases like this..

Yep. And only effective if the perp knows in advance what is going to happen to them.

A mate of mine down in the London area (Hells Angels member) got burgled, despite the perp knowing what would be likely to happen to them when they got caught. Yet they STILL did it.

If someone is desperate to steal something they'll find a way. All you can do is try to make it hard for them, and hence someone else's property more appealing an opportunity.

Good luck in getting your Surf back long_finger, hopefully undamaged. And if you don't get it back I hope it doesn't hit you too hard in the pocket.

TBH it is probably in Africa somewhere being used as a government vehicle.
If it was stolen for parts or as part of a list you wont see it again as I said it will be in Africa some where either being used daily or it has hit the parts market by now.
If some kids has taken it just for joy ride you might still be lucky, but you might not get it back in the same nick.

I've been in this situation before hence my harsh punishment recommendation if caught of course. I had a brand new bike a couple of years ago it had a 136 miles on the clock when it got nicked outside my place of work so I know that low sinking gut wrenching feeling when you get to where you left it and it is not there and you ask yourself did I really leave it there.
Btw that happened whilst living in the UK.

Personally I found it was best to move on, even if they do find it ask yourself would you really want it back after they have miss treated you much loved truck.

I dont want to get peoples backs up or start an arguement, but untill you have somthing of yours stolen, and the brick wall(from my experience) you hit when dealing with the police its hard not to deal with these things yourself(not that i have).

I had a race prepped enging sat in a locked, rented garage along with a bose sound system(£4500) and other valuble car parts, the race engine was in a corner with another standard engine beside it and covered from view.
Now the only person who knew it was there was the 'friend' who i was renting the garage from.
Now an opertunist would not walk past a home entertainment system like a bose(all new and boxed) and then proceed to dig out and remove an engine he did not know about!
police did fcuk all apart from waste my time taking details at the station and would not even interview my 'friend'.
I know it was him as the garage was locked when i found the engine missing,but they would'nt interview him without evidence!
I lost £4500 grand in one foul swoop, he would not claim on his house insurance and i could'nt claim on mine as its not my garage.

His time will come and the smirk he always gives me will become perminant so when he looks in the mirror from his wheelchair trying to brush his hair without his fingers he will always be reminded, that crime does not pay.

That said im sure a few responses from various people will be let the police do their job, well they've had 3yrs now and nothing so...

I had a discussion with an American colleague about guns in the home once. Basically, he'd shoot (to kill) someone nicking something from his house. I said I wouldn't. I have insurance, and I dont want the death of ANYONE on my hands. As a human living in a civilised society, I'm better than that. I voted for a government who promote a certain type of society. It may not work to my advantage all of the time, but its sure as hell better than vigilante knee-cappings, lynch mob beatings, stonings, hangings etc.

Once you start to walk down that road, you're one step from seeing women buried to the waist being stoned to death on football pitches as half time entertainment. It happens in some places, and I dont think you'd like it.

There are other ways of getting £4500 back with out posting on a forum some wishful maiming of another human being, if you do it, I hope you're willing to spend the rest of your life behind bars, as per the law and justice.

you can take back whats rightfully yours
has long has any damage made getting your stuff back
is replaced or payed for by you

so if you need to kick a door in take a spare ready made up door with you

police come but nowt happends its your right to do so

However, just incase anyone buys the above advice.
Crimminal damage is not mitigated by telling the judge "it's okay mate my joiner pal has a new door ready and is fitting as we speak"

The reason for the harsh response here is due to the lac of a justice system in the UK I lived there for 12 years(I have duel nationality) and watching the news and Uk road wars made it pretty clear to me that the UK is a thieves haven because there is no justice system.
Steal a car you get 20 hrs community service.
You kill some one you get 15 years with the chance of parole if your'e well behaved.
Outside the EU you steal a car it is jail time 2-3 years.
If you kill it is a high security prison for 20+ years.
Not like the Uk's hotels for prison you get play stations for entertainment.
Out of yer sell for most of the day.( Why! caus some pr$ck thought of human rights. You kill you don't have human rights. If your'e a thief you don't have human rights.)
One day one will walk down the street and it will be illigal to fart, because you will be violating someonelses human rights.
The UK takes the p$ss when it comes to justice.
That's why people talk the way they talk, in America and South Africa it is the same and the law is on your side. If you have a wife and children in your house whether someone is breaking into your house to burgle or do worse, you as the man of the house it is your responsibility to protect your family first then your house. You have the right to shoot to kill and I for one live according to that rule.
If a guy breaks into my house to burgle and no one is in fair play to him/her that is why I have insurance, but if they break in and we are home I have to assume the worst and protect my family and my house whether they just wanted to burgle or do worst.
You can't compare the UK to America or any other part of the world. In the UK your'e not allowed any guns for self protection.
For one in South Africa I know of many cases where they burgle houses then rape your wife in front of you then they kill you in front of your wife then rape your kids in front of wife then kill them all execution stile.
Sorry to be so graffic, but that is why we shoot to kill first then we deal with the consequences. If I have to sit in jail due to protecting my wife and kids at least they can go on living.

This is where I will stop I can go on forever on this issue
