sounds like you should have did the trip at night when it was a wee bit cooler and do the tyre kicker bit before you go sounds like it was one of these after you got fresh kegs on i had two super shingle's and a air bag go bang with 27500kg of highland spring water on crook lands fell on the m6 about 7 years ago i had to cable tie up the air lines to the airbag to get my ass off the m6 as the tri stopped side way's blocking the hole mway it sounded like a bomb going off

I'll get a pic up later, but yeah, it exploded.
When I finally managed to find a tyre service guy on a Sunday (in Hungary) he changed the tyre but didn't want me to drive because the other tyres were so bad.
The road temp was over 40 degrees and That's what finished it I think.

Still, made it home in the end.

Before embarking on a long (ish) journey with an underpowered car, towing a digger on a trailer, check the trailer tyres
Or at least carry a spare.
